Mrs. Gladys Beatty Wessling, 78, of Mansfield, died Thursday, July 26, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. The daughter of John Daniel Beatty and Emma Lou Tindell Beatty, she was born in 1933 in South Berlin, Tenn. She worked for a number of years at the Griffin Insurance Agency in Morrow until her retirement in 2005. While in Morrow, she was an active and beloved member of the Saint Augustin's Episcopal Church. She moved to Mansfield in 2008 where she attended the Mansfield United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mary Rachels died Aug. 1. The daughter of Walter H. and Sally Cox, she was born in Jefferson County. For the 24 years she lived in Covington, she was a member of the Sergeant Newton DAR chapter and the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rachels enjoyed walking with Nell Nixon and working with ceramics at Turner Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Rachels.
Mrs. Rita Labowicz, 56, passed away July 29 at her home in Covington. Mrs. Labowicz was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Betty Hinman and brother, Joseph Hunt. She loved to spend time with her grandson Christopher. She also enjoyed spending time with her dogs Nina and Daphne, and shopping.
Mr. Monty Kite, 53, of Covington died July 28 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. He was born January 26, 1959, in Newton County. Mr. Kite was the son of Roy Lee Kite and is survived by his mother Clara Kite, son Rodney Kite, daughter Misty Kite, brothers Wade Kite and Wes Kite and sister Lisa Miller, all of Covington. Mr. Kite has three grandchildren and several aunts and uncles.
Ms. Jeanette Allison, 77, of Covington passed away July 28, 2012 at her residence. She was born August 15, 1934 in Union Point, Georgia to the late Gordon and Elizabeth Brooks Allison. Ms. Allison enjoyed gardening, reading, loved music and antiquing. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Covington and worked for many years as an accountant, employed at Georgia State University. Ms. Allison was preceded in death by her sister Betty Dunn.
Mr. Charles E. Kelly Jr. died July 20. In 1980, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Kelly Sr. were blessed with the birth of their son Charles Jr. As a child, he was very sweet and well mannered. He enjoyed baseball, basketball and riding his bike. He also liked playing with his friends in the neighborhood.
Mr. Linwood Tudor, 85, of Jackson, Georgia passed away July 17, 2012. He was born June 5, 1927 in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Sidney and Mamie Wilkerson Tudor. Mr. Tudor served his country in World War II in the United States Navy, he was a member of Covington Christian Church, and he enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He was a great and loving caregiver to his wife Rosalyn Tudor who preceded him in death 2011.
Hazel Simons, 92, of Oxford, passed away July 22. She retired after 35 years at Oxford Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Simons enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling and cooking. She was a member of Gum Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was involved in many church activities including the Gum Creek Golden Group. Mrs. Simons is preceded in death by her husband George Day Simons and parents Golden and Alice (Cochran) Coker.

Mrs. Lois Goddard Dalton, of Covington passed away July 17, 2012 at Abbey Hospice. She was born July 14, 1925 in Porterdale, Georgia to the late F.A. and Effie Turner Goddard. Mrs. Dalton was a long time member of Gaither's United Methodist Church. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, making angel pins, and shopping. Mrs. Dalton enjoyed going to Chic-Fil-A in Covington on a daily basis, as long as her health permitted, where she visited with many close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Weidman Dalton.
Thomas James Robinson died July 14. The son of the late Leo and Esther Shifflet Robinson, he was born in 1934 in Anderson County, S.C. He was preceded in death by sisters Fannie Rucker, Gertude Johnson and Mattie Robinson; he was also preceded in death by a step-daughter Delilah Reed, and a nephew John Robinson. Mr. Robinson was educated in the Anderson, S.C., public school system. In 1953, he enlisted in the Army where he served his country until his honorable discharge in 1956.
Flossie Haines, 89, of Covington, passed away July 18. Mrs. Haines was a member of First Baptist Church, in Covington and loved spending time in her garden. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Lee Haines, daughter Beverly Lee DuVall, mother Mabel Gertrude (Brooks) Parker, and her father Griffin Smith.
