Helen Leone Paty Stamps, age 89¾, passed away March 17 as a result of complications following a fall. Helen attended Duke University for two years, transferring during WWII to Agnes Scott College, where she graduated in 1945. She served as a Navy Cadet Nurse in WWII for 16 months. Shane was a 1997 graduate of Rockdale County High School, and lettered in both baseball and football during his high school career. His love for sports led him to coach youth baseball, in Newton and Rockdale counties, and he has influenced the lives of so many while coaching. He enjoyed watching professional and college sports, but most important to him were his children.
