Arleene Deloris Baird Wynn, 65 of Conyers, passed away at Emory Midtown, Tuesday, January 19, 2016. She was born in Yonkers, New York to Leslie R., Sr. and Florance Kampa Baird. Arleene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Martha Reynolds Cole, 78, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease Monday, January 18, 2016. Born and raised in Covington to Everett and Lavada Reynolds, Martha graduated from Newton County High School. She later met her first husband Robert Charles Bayliss and put down roots in St. Petersburg, Florida. Martha was a devoted mother and loved her four boys - the "Bayliss Boys" - Rob (Jan), Matt (Christine), Joe (Johanna) and Mitch. She was also crazy about her grandkids, Ethan, Joe Jr., Grace and Gage.
William James ("Bill") Fisher, Jr of Covington passed away January 17, 2016. Bill was born April 9, 1935, in Brunswick Georgia to the late William James, Sr. and Bertha Manning Fisher. Bill grew up in historic Darien, Ga. where he graduated from high school and excelled in both academics and athletics. Bill graduated Georgia Tech in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Virginia Hooten Lott, of Covington, passed away January 10, 2016, at the age of 91 following a brief illness. The daughter of the late Enoch D. and Lillian Trainer Hooten, Virginia was born in Porterdale on October 25, 1924. A lifelong resident of Newton County, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Fred Lott, Sr. The Lott's children include William Fred Lott, Jr. and his wife Lynda Hedgpeth Lott of Cumming, Greensboro resident Susan Lott Beaumont and the late Walter A. Barbara Geary Wright, 87, passed away Monday, January 4, 2016, at Dogwood Forest of Acworth. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family first and foremost. She was an active member of First Christian Church of Atlanta and worked closely with the YAARAB Red Devil Clowns. Barbara enjoyed quilting, tutoring adults and was an avid gardener. She was born in Cullman, Alabama to the late John and Nancy Catherine Ganong Geary and grew up in Decatur, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Kenneth Wright.
Helen N. Sorrow of Covington passed away on January 1, 2016, at the age of 85. She was the wife of Reverend John L. Sorrow, retired minister in the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Mrs. Sorrow attended the University of Georgia and taught school for a number of years. She loved children and was a gifted Sunday school teacher. Ronald "Ronnie" McGiboney, 74 of Covington, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Abbey Hospice. He was born in Porterdale to the late Robert and Francis Smith McGiboney. Ronnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ronnie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Martha Laverne McGiboney, in 2010, his son Ronald Dwayne McGiboney, in 2012, as well as two brothers, James McGiboney and Robert "Buddy" McGiboney.
