Mary Catchings Crudup, 82, of Covington, died Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Gwinnett Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the youngest child of Elise Browne Catchings and Thomas Franklin Catchings. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Franklin Catchings, and sister, Elise Catchings Rouprich, and is survived by her husband, Edward A. Crudup, Jr., of Covington and two daughters, Anne Bristowe Crudup, of Covington, and Emily Crudup Cameron (Allen), of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and grandchildren, Seth McDougald Cameron and Harold Phillips Cameron.

He loved his family and enjoyed being outside, going hunting, fishing and working in his garden. When not traveling for work, he loved spending time with his family. Married to Grady Townsend for 59 years, the couple honeymooned in Daytona, and visited there every year around their anniversary. Mrs. Townsend enjoyed shopping, but most of all she loved being with her family. She was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church in Conyers and will be remembered as a great cook – always preparing more than enough. Funeral services for Opal O'Dell Graves, 91, of Murphy, North Carolina., were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. The Reverends Edward Carter, Fred Lunsford and Jim Ross officiated. Following the service, interment was in the church's cemetery. She died on Monday, September 15, 2014, after an extended illness.

Penelope (Penny) Cagle Rutledge, age 63, of Porterdale, passed away September 13, 2014, following an extensive illness. She attended Porterdale Baptist Church, and enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking and listening to music. She especially enjoyed listening to her grandson, Dylan, play the piano, and also spending time with her other grandson, Eli. Ms. Rutledge devoted her life to caring for her parents, daughter and grandsons. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Elida Tanner, age 80, of Oxford, Georgia passed away September 15, 2014. She was born August 23, 1934 in Miami, Florida to the late Vernon Franklin and Mary Lee Armstrong. Mrs. Tanner was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and also worked for Emory University and the Newton County Library. She enjoyed traveling especially out west and to National Parks, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, collecting and she loved frogs.
