John Blake McLeod, Jr. of Rutledge passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the age of 70, after he fought a long battle with cancer. He was born August 31, 1944 to the late John Blake, Sr. and Sara McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Henry Starr Corley, of Covington, passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born February 19, 1921 in the Starrsville Community of Newton County to the late William H. Corley, Sr. and Leila Wright Corley and was also preceded in death by his brother, William H. Corley, Jr. and sister, Katheryn Corley Mills. Mr. Corley was a surveyor for the Georgia Department of Transportation and a veteran of the United States Army Airforce. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Mr. Kenneth Felton "Tump" Bradford, age 74, of Oxford passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014. He was born November 3, 1939 in Lawrenceville to the late William Howard and Jewell Lindsey Bradford. Mr. Bradford served in the United States Navy and was a member of Central Community Church. He was retired from General Motors and also worked for a number of years following his retirement at General Mills. Mr. Bradford loved to work in his garden and loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Fincannon and his grandson Tucker Hankins.

He was a dedicated employee, of the City of Covington, where he worked several years prior to his retirement. Prior to his employment with the City, Mr. Capps worked for Gas, Inc. Mr. Yearwood loved his family dearly, and especially cherished his time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Howard and Lovie (Chambers) Yearwood.

Mr. Hoffman was a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church, in Covington, where he also served as past chairman of the Board, Sunday School teacher and superintendent of the Intermediate Department.
Mildred "Mrs. Millie" Maloy, a lifelong resident of Porterdale, passed away September 27, 2014, at the age of 95. She was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church and the Porterdale Woman's Club. Mrs. Millie was known for her sharp mind and quick wit, and therefore gained the nickname, "The General." She loved her family dearly and especially cherished her role as a grandmother. She was raised and educated in Newton County, graduating from Washington Street High School in 1954. Mrs. Fletcher joined Early Hope Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Mother Board and was president of the Program Committee. She married Mr. Eugene Fletcher in 1957. Mr. Cobb was a graduate of Newton County High School and a member of James Paschal Baptist church. Following in the footsteps of his daddy, Mr. Cobb entered the grading business at an early age.
