Ruth A. Wilson, of Covington, passed away March 13, 2014, at the age of 90. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson always put others needs ahead of her own, and she was the rock that held her family together. Tiffany Warren, age 21, of Porterdale passed away March 11, 2014. She was born June 22, 1992 in Austell, Georgia and lived there until moving to Covington in 2001. Tiffany graduate from Eastside High School in 2010 and worked as a Manager at Subway Restaurant in Conyers. She loved her friends and enjoyed nothing more than to hang out with them as much as she could. Tiffany was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece and friend. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents James and Mary Jane Warren.
James Thomas "Tommy" Gardner, age 78, of Covington, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014. Mr. Gardner was a union carpenter by trade, and he enjoyed hunting and watching NASCAR. He cherished his family, and loved taking care of his sons.
Clara Gaynell Doggett, of Covington, passed away March 8, 2014, at the age of 94. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed cooking, shopping, exploring and spending time with them during the holidays. She also loved her two dogs that were her constant companions. Mrs. Doggett was a wonderful Christian woman and a great example to other Christian women. Harold Lee Stapp Sr., 61, of Porterdale, passed away March 8, 2014, at Newton Medical Center. Mr. Stapp was a faithful member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church in Porterdale. He enjoyed playing softball, and will be remembered as a hard worker. Mr. Stapp was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Sara Frances (Loyd) Stapp.
Mr. Archie Thomas Mulkey, age 95, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was born March 6, 1918, in Bremen, Georgia, a son of the late Elisha Samuel Mulkey and the late Attie Mae Smith Mulkey. Mr. Mulkey was a retired brickmason and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his by his first wife, Lurlene Johnson Mulkey; two brothers; and three sisters.
Sharon Long, of Covington, passed away Feb. 18, 2014, at the age of 72. She enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Mrs. Long loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Leo and Bernice (Larson) Murphy.
Charles Andrew Hall, of Jackson, passed away Feb. 27, 2014, at the age of 71. He worked for Evans Tool & Dye in Conyers for more than 35 years. He loved his job and his co-workers. Mr. Hall enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing, hunting, and riding his four-wheeler and tractor. He also loved living and working on his parent's home place, where he enjoyed growing fruit and nut trees. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his grandson, Trevor Bailey; and parents, Andrew and Marie Hall.
Julian L. Gilbert of Covington died on Feb. 27, 2014, at Heritage Healthcare. He was born Sept. 15, 1921. Mr. Gilbert was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was a longtime member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. He faithfully attended the Adult Sunday School Class and church. He was a Ruling Elder as Elder Emeritus. He enjoyed working on his farm and in his vegetable garden. He loved the animals and walking. He retired from Lithonia Lighting after many years. He was a member of Worthville Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.
Barbara Ann Schemmel, of Newborn, passed away Feb. 27, 2014, at the age of 50. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.She loved her job as a bus driver for the Newton County School System. Barbara was a metastatic breast cancer survivor for 10 years and active in Newton County Relay of Life. She was also an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Raymond Carl Hallford, of Oxford, passed away Feb. 27, 2014, at the age of 49. Raymond enjoyed playing basketball when he was younger, and creating spectacular fireworks shows on the Fourth of July. Katherine Shawl Brewer, 86, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014. Mrs. Brewer was a dedicated member of 36 years at High Point Baptist Church in Covington. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Griswell. Mrs. Brewer is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Obie Brewer of Covington; daughter, Lynda (Mike) Carter of Covington; son, John (Marsha) Brewer of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Corey) Bridwell, Alan (Suzanne) Carter, Amy (Jason) Parker, Jeffrey Brewer, and Christy (Tony) Smith; and a sister, Bettie Miller.
Eloise Henderson, 75 of Monroe, died on Jan. 21. The daughter of the late Samuel and Thelma Bell Pike, she was born in Bibb County in 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband the Samuel Carson Henderson.

Mr. Kitchens proudly saved our country in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. Mr. Kitchens was a member of Newton Baptist Church. He enjoyed bird hunting and loved his family. Mr. Kitchens was preceded in death by parents Andrew and Minnie (Parker) Kitchens and wife Fairy Cowan Kitchens. Mrs. Angel DeAnn Hammonds Clark, 32, a lifelong resident of Newton County died Jan. 18. She was born in Newton County on June 29, 1976 to Larry and Priscilla (Shannon) Hammonds. Mrs. Clark was a member of High Point Baptist Church and was a loving mother.

William "Bill" Henry Knight passed away at his home in Port Orange, Fla. on December 29, 2008. Mr. Knight was born on December 31, 1933 in Staunton, Va., the son of James and Mary (Bowen) Knight. He retired in 1972 from the United States Army after serving his country for 23 years. He enjoyed traveling and cooking for friends and family. Bill was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a life time member of the VFW and the American Legion.
