Fred Lamar Covington

Lieutenant Colonel Fred Lamar Covington, 79, passed away on January 31, 2015. Colonel Covington was a 20-year veteran of the United States' Air Force, serving as a Senior Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) and Systems' Management Engineer. During his military career he served in the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1973, where he completed 43 combat missions in the F-105 Wild Weasel, for a total of 128 combat flight hours.

Daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Munger Day, she and her husband were former residents of Kansas City, moving to Covington in the early 1970's. Tanyetta L. Williams, 21, of Covington, died July 2. Known as Tan, Miss Williams was a feminist activist and a junior at Georgia State College majoring in political science. Miss Williams was a lover of music and sang at many churches and loved playing drums. She toured with several activist groups and was a sociable person. She surrounded herself with a diverse circle of friends.
