Martha Ann Mahan of Social Circle passed away July 16, 2014, at the age of 81. A very dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Covington and the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class, she was also a member and past president of the Callie Cohen Circle of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Mahan enjoyed traveling and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking.
Jayne Satterfield, 78 of Covington, passed away Wednesday, July 16 at Abbey Hospice. Jayne was born on February 23, 1936 to Charner and Frieda (Seddon) Peacock in Atlanta. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Satterfield was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Orlin R. Satterfield in 2013 and her parents.
Mrs. Nettie Mae Digby, age 84, of Covington passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. She was born February 7, 1930 in Porterdale to Archie and Minnie Ivey McCullough who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Digby worked at home until her children were grown and then she worked for C.R. Bard for 2 years and Stanley Tool for 14 years. She was Methodist by faith and a member of Gaither's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Digby loved her family very much; she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Eunice Mae Banks Dobbs, 77 of Covington died May 21, 2009 at Riverside Convalescent Center. She was born in Jasper County to the late Holland and Lurlene Henderson Banks. She was a life long resident of Newton County and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Mrs. Dobbs was an avid gardener and loved to cook and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband L. D. Dobbs in 2003. Bobby Nichols, a longtime resident of Mansfield, died April 25 at Social Circle Nursing and Rehab. The son of the late Luther Nichols and Ellie Johnston Nichols, he was born in Newton County in 1929. Mr. Nichols owned and operated a barbershop on Ga. Highway 162 for 37 years, was a member of Mansfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Maxine Kendrick, 77, of Decatur died May 5 of Cancer at Social Circle Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Freda Rose Bailey died April 20. the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred (Emily Henry) Rose, she was born in Brandon Hill, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies in 1931. Raised and educated in Jamaica, Mrs. Bailey was an active member of the East Queens Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Lloyd Bailey. Mrs. Bailey was very proud of her only child, her daughter Sonia.
