In addition, he also served as an interim pastor for Salem Baptist Church, in Conyers and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Oxford. Mr. Oscsar Mell Lunsford of North Augusta died April 8. Mr. Lunsford was a native of Covington, a former resident of Orlando, Fla., having made North Augusta his home for the past 14 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Cokesbury Sunday School Class, a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a retired Engineer with Lockheed Martin.
Joe Brown Piper, Jr., 75, of Snellville went home April 8 after a courageous 9-year battle with cancer. Mr. Piper was a loving husband, father and grandfather and avid fisherman who will be dearly missed. Mr. Piper was a former member of Glen Haven United Methodist Church in Decatur for 34 years and served faithfully in many capacities, and he was a current member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Snellville.
