Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" McIntosh Hooten, age 86, a lifelong resident of Covington passed away July 2, 2015. She was born February 15, 1929 in Jersey, Georgia to William and Mary Higginbotham McIntosh. Mrs. Hooten was a member of the North Covington United Methodist Church, joining in 1954. She worked for Bibb Manufacturing for 45 years and enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers around her home. Kenneth McDaniel, of Covington, passed away July 1, 2015 at the age of 80. He enjoyed gardening, collecting antique cars and trucks, playing poker, and making wine. Dr. Jacques served as the pastor of Harmony Baptist Church, in Covington, for 27 years, but most recently was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. Elzie (Ed) Dees, of Oxford, passed away June 25, 2015, at the age of 85. Ed was born in Douglas. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Ryder Truck Lines with 44 years of service. Ed and Maxine thoroughly enjoyed spending time and being involved with their church group. William H. Kay III died on May 5 at 10:55 in the morning at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He fought a very brave and difficult battle. At his death he was surrounded by his wife, Maria Granito-Kay, his daughter Valerie Kay (Graham), his son William H. Kay IV and his sister Norah Burnes. Mr. Kay was 68 years old.

Bobbye Maddox Cawthon, 84, of Jackson, died April 29 at the Abby Hospice in Social Circle. She had been residing at Autumn Village Assisted Living Center in Jackson. She was born in Butts County, in 1927 one of 11 children of Glenn C. and Leila Mason Maddox. She was wife of the late John Curry Cawthon. Mrs. Cawthon was a secretary for Eastern Air Lines for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Covington.
