David Hood, age 60, of Covington passed away May 24, 2015. He was born in Covington on November 7, 1954 one of the first ten babies born at Newton General Hospital. Graduated from Newton County High School and went Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College graduating with a degree in horticulture and while attending college worked at Callaway Gardens. David was the grounds superintendent for several golf course throughout his career including Hidden Hills and Cross Creek golf courses.

SFC Thomas H. Maloy of Walnut Grove, passed away May 5, 2015, at the age of 68. He was a 1965 graduate of Loganville High School. Shortly after graduation, SFC Maloy was drafted into the U.S. Army, and continued his service to his country until his retirement, in 1994, after 27 years of service. Mildred "Mrs. Millie" Maloy, a lifelong resident of Porterdale, passed away September 27, 2014, at the age of 95. She was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church and the Porterdale Woman's Club. Mrs. Millie was known for her sharp mind and quick wit, and therefore gained the nickname, "The General". She loved her family dearly and especially cherished her role as a grandmother. Hazel Haggard Cordell, of Covington, passed away April 19, 2015, at the age of 89. Born to Charles and Willie Mae (Parks) Haggard, Hazel attended school in Porterdale. She lived next door to the school and could run home at recess time to get fresh baked sweet potatoes, one for the teacher and one for herself. This was a happy time for her. An employee of Scientific Atlanta, she wired the first printed circuit board ever to be wired in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her children, John Robert Russell and Jackquelyn Ann Russell.

James (Sonny) W. Kirkpatrick of Covington, passed away May 27, 2011, at the age of 74. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a member of Milstead Baptist Church. He worked for Piedmont Moulding, as supervisor, for more than 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, exercising, and managing his rental properties. Mr. Kirkpatrick loved his family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ester and Ola Mae (Parker) Kirkpatrick.
