Roger W. Sheridan, 92, of Newborn, passed away Dec. 3. Mr. Sheridan was the current mayor of Newborn, where he held the record of being the oldest mayor in the country and was a retired Army captain, having served in World War II. He holds two records in "Construction and Engineering" in the Guinness Book of World Records and was a manager for international engineering projects in 32 countries.
Anne F. Laxson, 71, of Huntsville, died Dec. 9 at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Laxson was preceded in death by sons, Tommy Laxson of Huntsville and Gary Laxson of Hinesville; sisters, Myrtice Singley of Covington, Ga., and Nellie Durden of Walnut Grove, Ga.; and brother William Herring of Covington.
Edna Miller, 62, of Covington, died December 9, 2013, at Dekalb Medical Center. She was born on September 5, 1951, in Macon, to Ray and Emma Lou Miller.
Mike Shropshire, 62, of Covington, passed away Dec, 7. He loved riding his Harley and cooking. He coached Little League football for many years and was a true Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs fan. Mr. Shropshire was always laughing and enjoyed playing his drums. He could play "Wipeout" like no other. He also enjoyed his job and was a dedicated worker. He was preceded in death by his parents William Glynn and Helen Louise (Thomason) Shropshire and nephew Jeffrey Patterson.
Willis Lee "Zip" Clark, 73, of Stover, Mo., passed away Nov. 28 at his home. He was born in 1940, in Waverly, Ill., a son of the late Frank and Alta Nance Clark. He married Marilyn Nagles, and to this union one son, Jeff, was born. They divorced, and he married Elaine Carol Craigmiles in 1965. To this union two sons, Scott and Darian, were born. Elaine preceded her husband in death in 2002.
Patricia Ann Knight of Covington died Thursday, December 5, 2013. She was born on July 1, 1947, in Greenville, S.C., to Perry Burns and Martha Finley Carson. She was a member of Central Community Church.
Charles Allen "Charlie" Lemaster, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the age of 31. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and enjoyed playing softball, watching his son play baseball, riding his four-wheeler, but most of all, he loved spending time with this children.

Mrs. Louise Shropshire, 89, of Covington passed away Dec. 4, at the age of 89. Mrs. Shropshire was considered a good friend by many people. She cherished her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lanny Moody of Covington, 54, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly Dec. 3. Mr. Moody was born in Covington in 1959. He had many passions in life, one of which was sharing the gospel and bringing people to Christ. Through his outgoing personality and his comedic skills, he demonstrated God's love through fun and laughter and was able to touch so many lives through his ministry, Upside Down Comedy.

Billy Hugh Aaron of Covington passed away Dec. 2, 2013, at the age of 81.
Walker Sams Kirkpatrick, 82, of Covington, passed away Dec. 2, 2013. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a member of High Point Baptist Church but often attended Gaithers United Methodist Church in Covington. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen B. Kirkpatrick; parents, Robert and Maggie (Loyd) Kirkpatrick; and his sister, Myrtle Harper.
Jonah Bryce Barnett, 11, of Covington, died Friday, Aug. 9, at his residence. Jonah was born in Dublin and was a member of High Point Baptist Church in Covington where he lived the past four years. He attended the seventh grade at Cousins Middle School. His journey touched the lives of many and his testimony was touching to all that he met. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Grady Barnett Sr.
Mrs. Glenda J. Brooks Dobbs, 69, of Covington, passed away Aug. 11 at Newton Medical Center. Born in 1943 in Oliver Springs, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Oscar H. and Mary Louise Brooks and was a homemaker. Mrs. Dobbs enjoyed reading her Bible every day and was a professed Christian.
G. B. "Skip" Cook went home to be with our Lord Aug. 10. He was born to his proud parents, Ben Hyatt Cook and Pauline "Polly" Niblett Cook in 1942. Skip was a very skilled truck driver, who enjoyed and was proud of his career. Howard Walter Meyer, 93 of Covington, passed away Aug. 11 at Putnam Health & Rehab Center. He was born in 1920 in Bird Island, Minn., the son of Ella and Fred Meyer. Howell Walker "Woody" Woodward of Covington passed away Aug. 7 at Riverside Nursing Home. He was born in 1935 in Ola to Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Woodward. He was a loving husband and was known to many as Uncle Woody. He was a member of Luther Hays Presbyterian Church and the Covington Elks Lodge. He loved camping, watching NASCAR and Georgia Tech football, working in his yard and taking care of the pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mitzi Selena Nelson Jennings, 36, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully Aug. 2. She was born in 1976 in Covington, the daughter of James Edward Nelson and Judy Louree McDaniel Montgomery. Mitzi graduated from Newton County High School in Covington with the class of 1995. Mrs. Jennings was a devoted wife to John Wescott Jennings.
