Agnes Stephens Campbell died on September 12, 2014, age 92, Marshfield, Wisconsin; formerly of Snellville. Agnes was born in Oxford, Georgia, 1922 to Pauline and Harold Stephens, and was the wife of (late) Thomas Lyle Campbell, mother of Mary Campbell Brown and Tom Campbell. She had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Penelope (Penny) Cagle Rutledge, age 63, of Porterdale, passed away September 13, 2014, following an extensive illness. She attended Porterdale Baptist Church, and enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking and listening to music. She especially enjoyed listening to her grandson, Dylan, play the piano, and also spending time with her other grandson, Eli. Ms. Rutledge devoted her life to caring for her parents, daughter and grandsons. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Bill and Maybell Cagle; and her sister, Peggy Batchelor.
Jesse D. Patten, 79, of Covington, died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Newton Medical Center. Mr. Patten was born in Richland to the late Jesse Greene and Viola Gunnels Patten.
Mrs. Elida Tanner, age 80, of Oxford, Georgia passed away September 15, 2014. She was born August 23, 1934 in Miami, Florida to the late Vernon Franklin and Mary Lee Armstrong. Mrs. Tanner was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and also worked for Emory University and the Newton County Library. She enjoyed traveling especially out west and to National Parks, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, collecting and she loved frogs.
Catherine Crenshaw Berry, also affectionately known as "Nanny", passed away September 10, 2014, at the age of 100. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, spending time outdoors and canning vegetables. She owned Berry's Boat Dock, and for more than 72 years, people came expecting to see her sitting on the front porch swing! She never met a stranger. Nanny loved animals, but more than anything, she loved her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren. Mary A. Leasure, formerly of 933 Rosedale Avenue, Kingston, Tennessee, age 84, passed away suddenly on September 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Lucky" Leasure, in 1997. She moved to Atlanta in 2003 to join her children, daughter Barbara Leasure and son-in-law Dr. Michael Henry; son Steven Leasure, and daughter-in-law Holly and their son, Adam; and son Michael Leasure and daughter-in-law Dr. Renee Butler and their children, Matthew and Christopher Leasure. She lived independently in Conyers, Georgia, until May 2013 when she joined Steve, Holly and Adam in Douglasville.

Betty Christian Thomas, 84, of Covington, passed away September 8, 2014. Mrs. Thomas was a faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She was very active in various church functions, and was a member of the church choir for several years. She was a longtime, dedicated employee of Steele-Jones Insurance Agency in Covington. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ralph Thomas; parents Frank Buford and Ellen Ruth (Cowan) Christian; sisters Mary Beth Steele, Jean O'Neal; and her brother, Frank E. Christian.

Rebecca "Ann" Reid, 69, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at her home. She was born May 4, 1945, in Porterdale to the late Clarence and Allie Durden. Mrs. Reid was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all. But most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church. Son of the late Jessie Watts, he was a native of Sumter County, Georgia and graduated from Union High School in Leslie, GA. Mr. Watts served in the U. S. Verna Mae Almond, 82, of Brunswick, died Saturday, Jan. 17. Mrs. Almond moved to Brunswick to live with her daughter,Cheryl in 2000. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tease those she loved. She was also an avid gardener and attended the Bay Harbour Church of God.
Holly Nanette Purdy of Covington died Feb. 20 at St. Joseph['s Hospital. Born in Atlanta in 1952, she was the daughter of the late Konrad and Martha Parr Purdy. Miss Purdy was a graduate of the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. After graduation she worked for Delta Airlines as a flight attendant and retired after 31 years of service. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Covington, Athens Junior League and the Covington Garden Club.

Son of the late Gordon Belk, he was a Master Tile Setter, whose work can be seen all over the state of Georgia from universities, to schools, and public buildings around Atlanta. The two works he was most proud of was the Olympic Pool at University of Georgia and the Phoenix Rising in an Atlanta building. Mrs. Lucille Maddox Fincher, 82, of Covington, a lifelong resident of the Conyers and Covington area, died Feb. 12. The daughter of the late Jessie and Dollie Mae George Robinson, she was born in 1927 in Rockdale County. Mrs. Fincher was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Conyers. She was a loving mother who raised six children by herself and kept her family close while working as an inspector for Lithonia Lighting. She was preceded in death by first husband Clyde Maddox in 1966 and second husband Jack Fincher in 1994.
