Celeste Sigman Dupree's 156-year-old house can soon call a new site home, thanks to an anonymous donor and other community members who fought for 10 years to raise the funds needed to save the historic building.

Welcome Inn being demolished

The Welcome Inn will soon be a memory. The building frequently seen on television in the late 80's on the NBC television hit series "in the heat of the night." Tadio Robinson with Enviro Masters told me he and his crew were there to remove hazardous materials including asbestos before the wrecking ball could do the rest. The complete destruction of the building should occur within the next week.

Blue Willow Inn calls out for support

The Blue Willow Inn, a Social Circle institution, was busy Friday afternoon, but the amount of customers has declined since the death of owner Louis Van Dyke in late-November and his widow, and current owner, Billie, worries that without more customers, the famous restaurant will close.
