Funds raised for historic home move

Celeste Sigman Dupree's 156-year-old house can soon call a new site home, thanks to an anonymous donor and other community members who fought for 10 years to raise the funds needed to save the historic building.

Welcome Inn being demolished

The Welcome Inn will soon be a memory. The building frequently seen on television in the late 80's on the NBC television hit series "in the heat of the night." Tadio Robinson with Enviro Masters told me he and his crew were there to remove hazardous materials including asbestos before the wrecking ball could do the rest. The complete destruction of the building should occur within the next week.

Social Circle seeking to save historic home

Tractor trailer, garbage truck crash on Ga. Hwy 11

A tractor trailer and a garbage truck crashed into each other on a rainy afternoon Friday on Ga. Highway 11 near the Newton County/Social Circle border, sending both drivers to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lions Magical Radio Hour

Social Circle Lion's Club will hold its annual musical gala at the Social Circle Theater Saturday, Feb. 28, 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations. So fresh and so clean: Social Circle Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Krystal Williams joins over 35 volunteers Jan. 17 as they put a fresh coat of colorful paint on the walls of the Social Circle club located at 169 Thurman Baccus Road.
