Social Circle approves 2009-2010 budget
The city of Social Circle passed its fiscal year 2009-2010 budget with little fanfare at the city council meeting on Tuesday.
Grand Opening
Community gathering: Dr. Michelle Pastor cut the ribbon in front of Our Family Health Center, a new business in Social Circle. Mayor James Burgess, center, along with many members of city council and other prominent citizens of Social Circle were present for the ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday afternoon. Council plans for land purchase
The city of Social Circle approved plans for a $605,000 loan at the city council meeting on Tuesday, planning to use the money to purchase properties to allow for the expansion of the city cemetery.
Breaking ground
General Mills broke ground in Social Circle Monday on what will be its largest distribution center in the United States, a 1.5-million-square foot, $42 million facility at 5239 E. Hightower Trail.

Design firm shows ideas to Social Circle residents
 Urban Collage, the company hired by the city to help design a downtown revitalization effort, presented three redesign options to a room full of business owners, residents and members of the public on Tuesday evening, receiving feedback in favor of two of the designs.
School system opens new administrative building
 Social Circle City Schools dedicated the newly built administrative office building on Alcova Drive Tuesday, ushering in a new wave of building and expansion for the growing school system.
New Heritage Center and Museum to open
The new Social Circle Heritage Center and Museum holds its grand opening today, April 26, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Social Circle Visitor's Center located on East Hightower Trail, across from the former City Hall.

Social Circle City Council appointed its newest member on Tuesday to fill the vacancy left by the sudden passing of councilmember David Terry. The meeting opened with a moment of silence for Terry, 77, who passed away April 5.
