Welcome Inn being demolished

The Welcome Inn will soon be a memory. The building frequently seen on television in the late 80's on the NBC television hit series "in the heat of the night." Tadio Robinson with Enviro Masters told me he and his crew were there to remove hazardous materials including asbestos before the wrecking ball could do the rest. The complete destruction of the building should occur within the next week.

Survivor’s spirit

Shiny and new: Five-year-old cancer survivor Ethan Potter was presented with this stylish ride at the Social Circle Kruizers show on Saturday. The car was sponsored by the City of Social Circle and Social Circle Better Hometown. The Social Circle Kruizers meet on the second Saturday of every month in Social Circle. Their next show will be on May 31 and will honor the troops.

Students from Social Circle Theater win outstanding production award

Students from Social Circle Theater have made Georgia proud, the young artists earned two national honors - a "Freddie G Outstanding Production" award and a "Freddie G Outstanding Achievement Female" for Social Circle student Lanier Forster at the 2010 Junior Theater Festival which took place in Atlanta on Jan. 15-17. The 18 students, ages 7-17, are from Conyers, Covington and Social Circle and they presented selections from the musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie Junior" for adjudication by Broadway actor Rashad Naylor ("Hairspray," in the Chicago Company of Jersey Boys) and iTheatrics Chief of Staff Marty Johnson.
