Boss Brothers to host cancer benefit horse ride
"Be the boss of you" is the slogan for the Boss Brothers Breast Cancer Trail Ride, which is focused on raising money for people in the local area fighting the tough fight against this formidable foe.

In Social Circle, the living is not so easy given preparations for the beginning of school on Aug. 9, and the scurry of preparations for many fall events. Keener receives Certificate of Recognition from GMA
Social Circle Council Member David Keener received the prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the Georgia Municipal Training Institute at the Georgia Municipal Association's 77th Annual Convention in Savannah on June 28.

Ride for Horses event hopes for World Record
The American Competitive Trail Horse Association will be organizing a Ride for Horses event on June 13. Each state across the country will host an ACTHA-sanctioned ride and, in doing so successfully, will be entered into Guinness World Records for the largest competitive ride ever held. Georgia's participation in the event will be held at Peters Creek Farms in Social Circle.

Kruizers celebrate Memorial Day
The Social Circle Kruizers will be holding their first Memorial Day car show and barbecue in downtown Social Circle on Monday. Current and past members of the military and their immediate families are invited and will be fed for free. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the family of Morgan County volunteer firefighter Keven Stephenson, who was injured two months ago in a car accident. Proceeds will help his family, including his 18-month-old daughter.

The Social Circle city council unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday evening that de-annexes all Social Circle land in Newton County effective immediately.
General Mills cuts ribbon for new plant
The amplified voices noticeably echoed in the mammoth 1.5 million square-foot distribution center, but the message was clear: General Mills is ready for business. Despite T.S. Eliot's description of April as being the "cruelest month," in Social Circle April turned out to be our kindest month in terms of citizen involvement. Social Circlites were like little daffodils, with happy faces emerging from the wetness and doldrums of winter.
