Welcome Inn being demolished

The Welcome Inn will soon be a memory. The building frequently seen on television in the late 80's on the NBC television hit series "in the heat of the night." Around the well: Greatest Little City goes global, celebrates America

Shakespeare had a pretty dim view of life. For example, Macbeth described life as "a walking player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more." In Social Circle, however, we do a lot of strutting upon the stage, but the reverberations are loud and long lasting. For one thing, folks in our city are starting to think and act globally. For instance, Social Circle Primary School and Social Circle Elementary School are on the path to becoming candidate schools for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Ultimately, they will pursue authorization as IB ...

Around the well: Social Circle residents resemble daffodils in April

Despite T.S. Eliot's description of April as being the "cruelest month," in Social Circle April turned out to be our kindest month in terms of citizen involvement. Social Circlites were like little daffodils, with happy faces emerging from the wetness and doldrums of winter. Four city events produced record turnouts and more volunteerism than we have seen in a long time.

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 4 attracted 167 "hunters" and more than 400 attendees, counting parents, grandparents and friends. Under the auspices of the Social Circle Better Hometown Program, the Easter Egg Hunt was superbly ...
