Social Circle's 2015 graduating class walked across the stage last weekend, being the first to do so at Social Circle's new athletic complex. Tara Nye was the Valedictorian and Sarah Wilson the Salutatorian.
The Social Circle city council will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. for their regular meeting. On the agenda is the discussion of the historic wellness walk, an outdoor landscape watering ordinance and a request from the Social Circle Fire Explorers for a donation.
Social Circle Theater will stage "Annie Jr." today through Sunday, with two different casts. Cast A will feature Indian Creek Middle School seventh-grader Kassidy Livingston as the title character. Showtimes are 7 p.m. today and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Barbara Williams demonstrates what the first Thanksgiving was like in an exhibit at the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle. Wednesday was her first day working the display, which is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Nov. 28 behind the restaurant, 294 N. Cherokee Road (Georgia Highway 11 north).
The Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle is known for its upscale Southern fare, but it takes on a decidedly old school New England accent this month with an exhibit on the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving.
Clear the streets: The Social Circle Friendship Festival began Saturday with a parade at 10 a.m. Various groups traveled down the main street in horse-drawn carriages, throwing candies and other treats to the onlookers. The Social High School Marching Band also participated. Vendors were also set up to peddle their wares.
The first four: Kevin Childress, Katie Burns, Nia Smith and Carla Soriano, seniors at Social Circle High School, have been selected as Social Circle Better Hometown's first series of junior ambassadors.
Brody Kyle Ingram of troop 316, Social Circle, received the rank of Eagle Scout at a ceremony held at Newton Baptist Church on Saturday. In order to achieve this prestigious rank, Ingram has to earn no fewer than 21 merit badges and had to complete a community service project. His work involved building an extra wall to separate two classrooms in the church.
