From my Internet search, I learned that one possible origin of the idiom "Paint the Town Red" was from the practice of Romans soldiers back in their Empire days of painting the walls of their newly-conquered towns with the blood of the vanquished. I don't know whether this is true or not.

The town of Social Circle celebrated its 180th birthday during its annual Friendship Festival. The event began at 9 a.m. in Social Circle's downtown business district at the intersection of Hightower Trail and Cherokee Road and ended at 4 p.m.

Social Circles OKs Sunday alcohol sales
Social Circle voters said yes to Sunday alcohol sales during the primary election on Tuesday. Election results from the Walton County Board of Elections Office show that 390 people (57.44 percent) voted yes to Sunday package alcohol sales and 289 people (42.56 percent) people voted no.
