Oxford College students experienced a colorful ceremony Monday night as the Hindu Student Association celebrated Diwali (Festival of Lights) with the community. The free event taught attendees about Diwali through theater, song and dance and HSA served up Indian Food. The Hindu festival of lights is the most popular of all festival from South Asia and extends over five days. The festival celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. The actual legends that go with the festival vary in different parts of India.
