Jeffrey Meadors, dual enrollment coordinator for Georgia Perimeter College's Newton and Rockdale campuses, has announced his intention to run for the Newton County Board of Education District 1 seat on the Republican ticket. Council member Johnny Smith, who currently holds the seat, has announced that he does not plan to run again after six years in office.
