Newton High School assistant principal appointed to PAGE board of directors

Newton County School System is pleased to announce that Newton High School Assistant Principal, Dr. Sandra Owens, has been appointed to the PAGE (Professional Association of Georgia Educators) Board of Directors and will represent the group's District 11, which is comprised of thirteen counties in east, central Georgia. The Governor's Office for Children and Families has awarded the Newton County School System a 2009 Caring Communities System of Care grant in the amount of $283,447. Grace Baptist Church makes generous donation to Porterdale Elementary School students

Grace Baptist Church in Covington recently made a generous donation of much needed school supplies to students at Porterdale Elementary School. NCSS announces winners of bus safety poster contest

Newton County School System (NCSS) is pleased to announce that Brian Lopez and Hannah Hinton are the winners of the district's annual School Bus Safety Poster Contest! Keeping the faith

"I never lost my faith," said Andre Kessler to a large group of Newton High School freshman. "I am still an observant and very proud Jew."

And although his faith is still strong, it certainly has been tested in the past. Kessler, who was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1940, is a survivor of the Holocaust, the systematic extermination of approximately six million Jews.
