The Newton County Board of Education approved Tuesday evening school Superintendent, Dr. Steve Whatley's proposed revisions to the current school calendar to accommodate the makeup of the February 12 snow day.
Newton County School System will hold its annual Kindergarten Round-Up during the week of March 15 through March 18. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2010 (child must have been born on or before Sept. 1, 2005) to register for the 2010?2011 school year. Parents should bring the prospective kindergarten student with them to the roundup so teachers can conduct screenings with the children.

All Newton County schools have been cleared of any wrongdoing after a state analysis of the 2009 Criterion-Referenced Competency Test was done following allegations of cheating in other school systems.
Order in the court: Teams from all three Newton County high schools participated in the Mock Trial Competition, held in Newton County. Alcovy High School, pictured, had members who debated cases in a courtroom setting, as well as holding deliberations. McIntosh High School in Peachtree City won the competition.
