Theme school accepting applications for 8th grade
The Newton County Theme School is going to be accepting applications for students entering the eighth grade next year. Applicants will be accepted during the week of April 8-12. Return completed applications and required documentation to the Newton County Theme School front office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the week of April 8-12
School board meeting next Tuesday

Cagle Announces $3 Million in Funding to Newton College and Career Academy
Today, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle announced $3 million in Career Academy funding for the Newton College and Career Academy, a partnership between the Newton County school system and DeKalb Technical College. This award was made official today after approval by the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia. These funds will be matched with local funding commitments. Peachtree Academy gives thanks
Great-ful: Peachtree Academy Private School in Conyers held their first Give Thanks Day on Nov. 20. The student body and families participated in numerous community service projects. The school set a record for donations to the Rockdale Emergency Relief by contributing 7,650 non-perishable items. Turkeys run a relay: The Cousins Middle School Relay for Life team had a "Teacher Turkey" contest for a Thanksgiving fundraiser. Teachers and students purchased more than 1,000 paper turkeys for Assistant Principal Kendrick Britford. School calendar revised to make room for more furlough days
Anticipating more furlough days in the near future, the Newton County Board of Education has voted to revise the 2010 school calendar to allow for those days to be taken if required by the state.
