Peachtree Academy expands

A brand new gymnasium, 24,000 square feet of classroom and library space and administrative offices were revealed during a ribbon cutting held by the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce at the Covington Peachtree Academy school campus on Tuesday. The classroom space will be for the school's high school students.

Oxford College offers free introduction to fly fishing

Oxford College is offering a free class entitled Discover Fly Fishing: An Introduction. The three-hour session will consist of an overview of basic skills and equipment used in fly fishing. Newton High School received AP teacher training grant

Students at Newton High School will have more Advanced Placement (AP) classes to choose from next school year. NHS administrators recently learned that the school was selected as a recipient of a 2009 AP Teacher Training Grant in the amount of $1,500 from the Georgia Department of Education. Theme school principal chosen

The Newton County Board of Education announced recently that Dr. Jill Adams has been chosen as principal of the new middle school theme school which is scheduled to open in the 2009/2010 school year at the current site of Clements Middle School.
