BOE OKs $1.2 million fix at Fairview
A $1.2 million HVAC/roofing project for Fairview Elementary School has been approved, and Newton County Schools' contract with its natural gas supplier has been renewed.

NCSS finds testing issues at Alcovy
"Miscommunication and human error" caused 170 students not to complete the coordinate algebra portion of the End Of Course Test - a state test taken by ninth through 12th-graders - at Alcovy High School, and other testing problems were reportedly found when the Newton County School System investigated concerns after receiving an anonymous email.
NCSS releases preliminary CRCT results
The Newton County School System has released preliminary scores of its elementary and middle schools in the Georgia Criterion Referenced Competency Test for the 2012-2013 school year, and according to NCSS officials, the results show positive increases.
