Five Ga. film studios band together to form advocacy group

Five film and television studios around Atlanta, including Covington-based Triple Horse Studios, have come together to form an advocacy group for Georgia's studios and businesses that support film and television industries. The five studios forming the new Georgia Studio and Infrastructure Alliance (GSIA) are: Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta, EUE/Screen Gems Studios Atlanta, Mailing Avenue Stageworks, Tyler Perry Studios and Triple Horse Studios.

Chamber to interview president candidates soon

Résumés are now being accepted for the next chamber president, and the search committee is reaching out to the group of 15 to 20 names they've collected over the past few months.

Since September, the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce has been without a president. A search committee headed by Chairman Jerry Mays has had numerous conversations about the skills and experience the next president should have and is poised to begin interviewing candidates soon, possibly by the beginning of February.

Supporter Spotlight: Bulldog Tire

Tommy Coker opened Bulldog Tire in Covington in 1986, more than a quarter century ago. He had worked in a tire company in Monroe for 19 years before that.

"I finally decided I wanted to do something on my own," Coker said. He scouted out Covington for many months before deciding to open a Bulldog location with his partner Ronnie Ward, who owns the Bulldog Tire store in Monroe and co-owns two other Bulldog stores in Snellville and Griffin.
