Baxter to split into two companies

Baxter International's Thursday announcement to split its business, which had more than $15 billion in revenue in 2013, into two companies in mid-2015 won't have any effect on the construction of the $1 billion manufacturing campus being built just outside Social Circle. Airport to remain closed for most of Jan.

Because of the unusually cold weather, the opening of the Covington Municipal Airport has once again been pushed back. The airport was scheduled to be open by today, but Horton said the airport won't be open until Jan. 22 at the earliest. He said the city, Dixie Jet, the DOT, the engineering firm PBS&J and Pittman Construction will discuss the possibility of partially opening the airport and runway. The airport has been closed since late September for runway reconstruction and other rehabilitation.
