Porterdale volunteer fire dept. looking for vendors

The Porterdale Volunteer Fire Department is looking for vendors to join their Spring Fling, and donations for the department to raffle off. The funds will be used to benefit the volunteer department so they can make repairs and maintain the department, which is not covered in budgets for the city of Porterdale or Newton County Fire Service.

Working at the car wash

Meet Nick McWilliams, a 20-year-old guy who loves the car wash so much that he works at one. McWilliams, has been working at Four Seasons Auto Wash Express here in Covington for nearly three years, in which time he has endured rain, sleet, snow and 104 degree weather just to make sure your car is as clean as it can be.

Turner Lake looks good after spruce up

With spring just around the corner, many residents are making their way over to Turner Lake Park to walk the trails, and several have noticed it is looking good. The Newton County Recreation Commission said it recently went in with machines and cleared out much of the underbrush and limbs in order to keep the public safe and the park looking nice.
