GPTC honors student, faculty member

Robert Knox, a CIS computer support specialist student attending Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) has been selected as the college's 2014 GOAL Award winner. The Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) is a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) that honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state's technical college students. GOAL winners are selected at each of the state's 24 technical colleges as well as one Board of Regent college with a technical education division.

Flooding confirmed in Rockdale County

Flooding has been confirmed around Lake Capri, Lake Sorrento and Bond Lakes in Rockdale County. Several houses and roads near Lakes Capri and Sorrento are flooded, including several streets surrounding Lake Capri and Lake Sorrento. Residents are being evacuated.

Phi Omicron Zeta has a successful first full Year

The Phi Omicron Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has been successful in its first full year of serving the Covington/Conyers area of Georgia. The chapter was chartered in March 2008, and began its first full year in Sept. 2008. The sorority was founded on the principles of scholarship, service, sisterly love and finer womanhood.
