Revised Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers Program announced

Hobby Stripling, State Executive Director of USDA's Farm Service Agency in Georgia announced that USDA has a revised Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers (TAAF) Program. Under the program, the USDA provides technical assistance and cash benefits to eligible producers of raw agricultural commodities and fishermen who have been hurt by import competition.

Alcovy FFA earns second place at Northeast Georgia FFA

The Newton County School System is pleased to announce that Alcovy High School's FFA Team won second place honors in the senior division at the recent Northeast Georgia FFA Floriculture Development Event and will now advance to the state competition on March 20th, 2010, at the State FFA Center in Covington. Parents of injured deputies thank local InVest donors

It's been less than a year since Newton County Sheriff's Deputies James Trent and Wesley Atha were shot and injured in the line of duty, but thanks to the generosity of the community, the InVest fund has raised roughly $90,000 to purchase new state-of-the-art bulletproof vests for all 156 mandated officers.
