This Saturday, Oct. 13 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Covington First United Methodist Church will host the Change the World Event at the church, which is located at 1113 Conyers St. in Covington. The event is free and open to everyone.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade was established in 1917 as an infantry brigade before serving in France during World War I. A man was reportedly robbed while he was in his back yard hanging laundry on Saturday. A Covington police officer responded to Nixon Circle at noon and spoke to a woman who said her son had been robbed. The police officer spoke with the woman's son who said he was in the back yard of his residence hanging clothes on a clothes line when a man later identified as Devonte Hightower came up behind him, stuck something sharp in his back and said, "Give me your money." Newton County's Board of Education will discuss Tuesday whether or not to renew Challenge Charter Academy's charter.
