Social Circle hosts cleanup
Social Circle is hosting a city-wide cleanup Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Groups will be assigned a street each to pick up trash until either they are done or 11 a.m. Participants of this cleanup include civic clubs, citizens, the mayor and members of the city council.

Gov. Sonny Perdue's Judicial Nominating Commission has submitted recommendations to fill a new judgeship on the Superior Court of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit. Both judgeships were created this year by the General Assembly. The JNC submitted the following short list of names:
Testimony continues in Benson trial
The murder trail of Franklin Benson continued today with several witnesses for the state taking the stand. A forensic pathologist for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation testified about the condition of Leslyan Williams' body parts that were transported to the GBI for autopsy, saying the total weight of what the found of her body was just 35 lbs.
