Social Circle hosts cleanup
Social Circle is hosting a city-wide cleanup Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Groups will be assigned a street each to pick up trash until either they are done or 11 a.m. Participants of this cleanup include civic clubs, citizens, the mayor and members of the city council.

2 Covington residents killed in weekend accident
According to www.macon.com three people died Friday night in two-vehicle crash on Interstate 16 in Laurens County, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Bonnie Jean Knight, 42, of Dublin was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar van east on I-16 in the westbound lane. She collided head-on with a 1998 Buick Regal driven by Rebecca Ann Hamm, 31, of Covington, said Sgt. K.E. DeLoach, the Dublin post commander.

Update, Monday, 5:18 p.m.: Commissioner J.C. Henderson will not hold a press conference to discuss his battery charges this week. Anthony Carter, Henderson's attorney, said he told Henderson that he'd like to do an investigation before anything like a press conference takes place.
Flood warning issued for Newton County
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Yellow River near Conyers below Milstead from this afternoon until Wednesday evening. At 10 a.m. Monday the stage was 6.0 feet - the flood stage for the Yellow River is above 11.0 feet. The forecast is for the river to rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to rise to near 15.9 feet by tomorrow morning. At 16.0 feet, moderate flooding begins.
Man steals from Wal-Mart, attempts to flee across I-20 on foot
Covington Police Officers were forced to chase a man across a street and into the woods after he reportedly stole a digital tape recorder from Wal-Mart.
Cars for a cause
Under the hood: The square was alive with nostalgia and the sounds of the Golden oldies as local folks came out to admire the antique cars on display last Sunday. The Covington Rotary sponsored the event, and raised over $13,500 for the benefit of the Miracle Field, according to Rotary Chairman Lanier Sims.

Three people were arrested after an attempt to shoplift several thousand dollars worth of baby formula from a local grocery store Friday afternoon.
