Social Circle home moving to new location

It took about five years to get funds and to complete the process to move the 186-year-old home, said Mike Owens, owner of Magnolia Manor, the new location of the home. The Historic Preservation Society of Social Circle (HPSSC) had pledged $10,000 for anyone who promised to move and restore the home, which was a significant chunk of the fundraising efforts needed to make the move official. Jealous rage at Newton Medical

Officers from the Covington Police Department responded to Newton Medical Center Tuesday evening after a woman's ex-boyfriend reportedly attacked her car in a jealous rage.

According to reports the woman, as she was coming from inside the hospital with friends, was confronted by a former boyfriend, identified as Nicholas Partain. She reportedly told officers that when she saw Partain she quickly walked to her car and despite his attempts to speak with her, she ignored him. This allegedly caused him to become angry and throw a backpack at her, striking her in the upper back.

Bidding begins for gas providers

As the price of gas continues to rise, Covington is trying to save money and gain supply stability by purchasing in bulk. In April Covington joined the North Georgia Fuel Cooperative, a 16-local-government-agency cooperative that is pooling its fuel needs in an effort to secure less expensive gas prices.
