Woman arrested for shoplifting for fourth time

A Covington woman was arrested for the fourth time for shoplifting in Newton County Tuesday, this time at Kmart.

A store employee noticed Margaret Watkins, 26, take clothing and jewelry into the fitting room, then leave the store immediately after exiting the fitting room.

Two arrested for marijuana

A call to a Bent Pine Court home early Sunday morning for stalking led to several arrests, including two for marijuana.

As the officers approached the front door of the residence they could immediately smell marijuana, and although they could see two males asleep on the couch through the blinds, officers knocked for about five minutes before anyone came to the front door.

Average retail gasoline prices in Atlanta have risen 3.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.72 per gallon Sunday. Across the country, the average price rose 4.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.80 per gallon, according to gasoline price website AtlantaGasPrices.com.
