Imagination has no limits

Friends of Newton County Parks hosted its annual fundraiser for Chimney Park Saturday, bringing imaginations to life with the yearly Fairy Festival. The festival is one of two fundraisers for the park, which is a universally accesible recreational woodland off the Eastside Trail near the Newton County Public Library's Covington Branch.

While Metro Atlanta's unemployment rate in February dropped one-tenth of a percentage in March, the decrease in unemployment claims in Newton County was three-tenths of a percentage, from 6.2 percent unemployment claims in February to 5.9 percent for the preliminary March figures.

Covington council approves employee benefits package

Newton County will have a new form of government come January

The county's enabling legislation was signed into law by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal Tuesday, according to Rep. Dave Belton, who informed Newton's Commissioners. The charter says that Newton County's day-to-day operations will be run by a county manager, and the manager, county chair and county commissioners will work as a checks-and-balances system in decision-making.
