ATLANTA - In a battle of morality versus modernism, the state Senate signed off on a bill that would allow local governments to ask voters whether to allow the sale of alcohol at grocery and liquor stores on Sundays.

Former track standout and Covington resident Chris Woods is passing along his knowledge at the collegiate level. Woods, who went to Newton High School before transferring to Benjamin Mays, is the head cross country and assistant track coach at Abilene Christian University in Texas.

The average age of members of "Voices of Wisdom" is 70, with the youngest being 61 and the oldest 84. Most members perform in their local churches, but some sing only with the Voices of Wisdom. The group debuted in a September 2010 play entitled "I Simply Say Thank You."
