Consignment shop reopens after 4 years

Taryn Robbins opened a consignment shop for children's clothes, toys and equipment in 1990 but had to close her doors in 2010. Now the chalkboard outside her new store says "open," and she plans to keep it that way.

Students compete for natural resources scholarships

The 48th annual Natural Resources Conservation Workshop was held June 7-11 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton. The workshop has graduated approximately 11,519 participants over the years and this year hosted 109 Georgia high school students including 10 students from the U.S. Virgin Islands along with two chaperones.

Police seeking aid in robbery spree

Law enforcement officials are asking for the public's help in identifying a robbery suspect who they believed may be responsible for at least three recent armed robberies in Newton and Rockdale counties.

According to Covington Police Detective Daniel Seals, just after 6 a.m. on July 4 the Holiday Inn Express was robbed by a black male with a blued pump shotgun with a short or pistol grip wood stock. The man came into the business and reportedly demanded money from the clerk then immediately left in what the witness believed was a dark-colored Nissan Altima.
