Today's concert moved to Turner Lake

InVest in the NCSO - Nov. 27

The parents of recently injured Deputy Wesley Atha have organized a fundraising campaign to purchase these vests for every county deputy. Their fundraising goal is $113,000. Each vest costs between $500-$700, depending on the size. Each Friday The Covington News will publish a list of individuals, businesses and civic groups who have donated to the cause that week as well as the total amount raised. Christmas Tree Association awarded grant

Making way for a new tree crop: The Georgia Christmas Tree Association was recently awarded a $30,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The grant money was allocated to the state as part of the 2008 U.S. Farm Bill. The purpose of the grant is to promote specialty crops in Georgia. Chuck Berry, president-elect of the GCTA and owner of Berry's Tree Farm in Covington, applied for and accepted the grant on behalf of the GCTA. Giving thanks

Holiday tradition: The Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle takes you back to 1621 in their annual Thanksgiving Exhibit. The early Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Tribe came together to create the first successful harvest for the pilgrims, and both walks of life came together to share the rewards. The Blue Willow Inn partnered with Joseph Hurt Studios to make the free exhibit possible. It runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Nov. 29.
