2 Covington residents killed in weekend accident

According to www.macon.com three people died Friday night in two-vehicle crash on Interstate 16 in Laurens County, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Bonnie Jean Knight, 42, of Dublin was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar van east on I-16 in the westbound lane. She collided head-on with a 1998 Buick Regal driven by Rebecca Ann Hamm, 31, of Covington, said Sgt. K.E. DeLoach, the Dublin post commander.

Flood warning issued for Newton County

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Yellow River near Conyers below Milstead from this afternoon until Wednesday evening. At 10 a.m. Monday the stage was 6.0 feet - the flood stage for the Yellow River is above 11.0 feet. The forecast is for the river to rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to rise to near 15.9 feet by tomorrow morning. At 16.0 feet, moderate flooding begins.
