Training for turmoil

Students from Georgia Piedmont College practiced their skills Thursday afternoon outside the Covington Fire Department on Pace Street. Local junkyards often donate totaled vehicles to the fire departments to use for training. Once they are done, they then come and pick the vehicles back up.

The area of Ga. Highway 162 in front of Tempie Lane was clogged Thursday morning, as deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office stopped drivers on the highway to hand out flyers, soliciting information on the double homicide that occurred in the out-of-the-way neighborhood Tuesday morning.
