Gas prices down from previous week

Average retail gasoline prices in Atlanta have fallen in the past week, averaging $3.33/gal yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen in the last week to $3.56/gal, according to gasoline price website AtlantaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Atlanta during the past week, prices yesterday were lower than the same day one year ago and are 23.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased during the last month and stands lower than this day one year ago.

Oxford to hold Fourth of July celebration

Residents will soon bring their patriotic pride as the City of Oxford and the Oxford Lions Club are hosting the annual Fourth of July Parade and Celebration and would like for locals to join in this year's event which will be held Wednesday, July 4.

Participants are encouraged to decorate your bicycle, car, truck or float in a patriotic theme. There will be an award for the best float.

Local named student president of Georgetown

Earlier this spring, Shaun Zhang was elected the President of the Student Bar Association of Georgetown Law at age 20. The Student Bar Association is law schools' student government.
