Husband throws TV at wife, she uses kitchen knife to defend herself
A woman and her daughter woke Sunday morning to the sounds of their home being burglarized, according to reports from the Covington Police Department. At roughly 9:50 p.m., one of the women was in her bedroom when she heard a chime sounding downstairs but ignored it, assuming it was her brother coming home. Shortly thereafter, movements were heard in the basement of the home followed by a bang. It was then that the women realized they were being burglarized, according to reports.
Landfills closed for holidays, first day of school
In order to balance the county budget, Newton County offices, including the Newton County Landfill and all Newton County Neighborhood Recycling Centers will be closed on the holidays listed below. To help maintain cleanliness and to avoid penalties, residents should not leave trash at Landfill or Recycling Center gates. People who leave trash at gates will be fined. This policy is strictly enforced.
