Hometown Realty owner and longtime Covington resident Darlene Smallwood has spent the last eight years building a reputation for helping her customers. The business, located on Hazelbrand Road, has become known in the community for those efforts.
Three months of discussions between Mansfield residents and the Georgia Transmission Corporation ended Tuesday without compromise, and the corporation is moving forward with its original plan to build a new 3.2 mile transmission line that will pass through part of Mansfield.
The Eastside High Chorus Show Choir will be presenting their Fall Musical Review, "Re-living the 80s," this Thursday. The show will take place in the Eastside High School Auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., and will cost $4 for adults, $3 for students and $3 for senior citizens. The show will feature the best of the 1980s music in an upbeat atmosphere.
A public vote on whether to allow restaurants and hotels to sell alcohol in unincorporated Newton County is likely in 2012, after the Newton County Board of Commissioners gave a consensus Monday night to move forward on the issue.
