Bethlehem Baptist Church, located on Usher Street, gave away 100 handmade drums and other handmade gifts to needy children on Dec. 18. Many of the gifts, including the drums, pillows, blankets and other crafts were made by philanthropist Jean Jackson.
The Newton County High School Band is set to make history, thanks to the generosity of several donors who helped the group raise the funds needed for a trip to New Orleans to play at the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4.
