Doing the Schipoopi

Performances will be held at EHS Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The production involves 160 seventh and eighth grade chorus students from Indian Creek. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Drunk driver tosses beer out of car while chased

Two people were arrested trying to avoid deputies after catching their attention for lack of seatbelts early Saturday morning. Deputies from the NCSO were on patrol when they noticed a blue Ford Thunderbird at the stop sign at Dixie Road. The deputies noticed the driver wasn't wearing his seatbelt and turned around to stop the vehicle but the driver was already gone.

Oxford to pay 911 center

Oxford will begin paying Covington and Newton County $18,282 for the use of emergency 911 services. Covington, Oxford and Porterdale use the 911 Center's services, while Newborn and Mansfield's calls are handled through the county's sheriff's office and fire department.
