Boyfriend denies hitting girlfriend’s face

Upon arriving at the scene of a report of a family fight, the officer noted that a woman and her child outside in their yard crying. The woman had a large red mark on her right check and the child was holding her right hand close to her tummy.

The woman told the officer that she and her boyfriend had been sitting on the couch talking and he slapped her for no reason.

Teacher arrested for cocaine, DUI

A Newton High School language arts teacher was arrested Saturday night in Rockdale on charges of DUI and cocaine possession.

Kathern Laura Green, 36, was stopped by Rockdale Sheriff's Office deputies who noticed her driving too fast in Olde Town Conyers, according to reports. Voter registration drive this Saturday

God's Concerned Citizens will sponsor its first voter registration drive for 2012 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Porter Memorial Library, on Ga. Highway 212 next to Oak Hill Elementary Schools.

Georgia gas prices fall 8.4 cents per gallon in past week

Average retail gasoline prices in Atlanta have fallen 8.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.73/gal yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.85/gal, according to gasoline price website AtlantaGasPrices.com.

Newcomers receive rude welcome

Thompson keeps feeding the hungry

The Community Food Pantry is celebrating its 25th anniversary while its director Rosalee Thompson is celebrating her 25 years at the helm of the project.

Thompson became involved with the project when it was in its beginning stages. In 1987, several local churches like the First Presbyterian Church and Bethlehem Baptist Church created the food pantry to serve as a centralized pantry for the community.
