18 hurt in shuttle bus crash near Atlanta airport

Newton County employees are safe from firings, furloughs and pay cuts until at least June 30. Five county departments made last-minute, non-personnel cuts totaling more than $1.1 million, to erase fully the previous $5 million budget deficit for Fiscal Year 2009.

Teen killed in single-car accident identified

 A sixth grade student killed in a car crash last weekend was identified by Georgia State Patrol as 13-year-old Caschona Nequail Robinson, a student at Veterans Memorial Middle School. Known as "Sweetie Pie" by those close to her, she was killed in a single car accident just before noon Saturday. According to GSP Sgt. John Cronin, Caschona was in the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Malibu driven by her 18-year-old brother.

When longtime Newton County resident Kathy Butler Allen Brown stopped working last year, she and her husband tightened their budget to make ends meet. "We went from two salaries to one salary in January '08 and adjusted, adjusted, adjusted our lifestyle," Brown said.
